The Factors Influencing to Fatigue of Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B

Abstract

|
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing to fatigue of patients with chronic hepatitis B.
Methods: The subjects were consisted of 140 patients with chronic hepatitis B who visited the K University Hospital in Daegu, Korea from May to June. Data were collected by selfadministered questionnaires of symptom distress, anxiety, self efficacy and fatigue with Likert scale. Collected Data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0 program.
Results: The reported scores for symptom, anxiety, self-efficacy and fatigue were 1.55¡¾0.58, 1.94¡¾0.53, 3.60¡¾0.64, 2.98¡¾1.84, respectively. A positive correlation existed between fatigue and symptom (r=0.57, p=0.029), anxiety (r=0.64, p=0.000). In contrast, there was a negative correlation between fatigue and self-efficacy (r=-0.57, p=0.000). The influencing factors for fatigue were anxiety, symptom, the level of education and self-efficacy (R2=0.53, p<0.001).
Conclusions: The results of this study provide comprehensive understanding of the influencing factors on fatigue in patients with chronic hepatitis B. These findings show that development for programs and strategies for reducing anxiety and symptom and enhancing self-efficacy are need to control fatigue in chronic hepatitis B patients.
